In June of 1995, Donna Kausen met with a crew of four from Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge to conduct a walking survey of Nash Island nesting birds.
On that day they counted the following:
- 98 Eider nests
- 215 Herring Gull Nests
- 14 Black Back Gull nets
- 184 empty gull nets
Many Savannah Sparrows were also viewed and assumed to be nesting on the island.
